The La Unidad Latina Foundation was established in 1999 to serve as an independent, non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to educational achievement and civic empowerment in the Latino community.

The objectives of the La Unidad Latina Foundation are:

 
To award scholarships and grants to worthy and needy students for the pursuit of higher education;

To encourage participation of Latinos in educational programs and activities; and

To support community programs which aid in the civic em-powerment and educational improvement of the Latino community.

 

Since its inception, La Unidad Latina Foundation has supported outstanding students from universities and colleges across the the United States with scholarships ranging from $250 to $1000. The following students became La Unidad Latina Foundation Scholars in 2005 & 2006:

Along with supporting students, La Unidad Latina Foundation believes that supporting organizations that serve students and provide leadership development are critically important.

Since 2000, fifteen organizations have received support from the La Unidad Latina Foundation for leadership development conferences, cultural awareness events, mentoring programs, and voter registration programs. The following organizations became La Unidad Latina Foundation Grantees in 2004-2005:

Sigma Chapter of Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity for its 10th Anniversary Celebration Event.

Cornell Latino Alumni Association for a membership program.Cornell Latino Alumni Association for a membership program.

Alpha Chapter of Sigma Lambda Upsilon Sorority for Nuestra Noche, a cultural enrichment event.

The Greenlining Institute for a graduate internship program;

La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity for a voter registration project;

Iota Chapter of Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity for a cultural enrichment event;

Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity for a college exposure program for middle school students; and

Theta Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Lambda Upsilon Sorority for a mentoring program.
